Limestone Calcining Kiln, Lime Rotary Kiln is the core equipment in modern lime production lines, widely used in industries such as steelmaking, alumina, calcium carbide, building materials, and chemicals. Our rotary kiln system adopts advanced control technology and optimized thermal structure to efficiently decompose limestone (calcium carbonate) into high-quality active lime. This equipment offers significant advantages including large production capacity, low energy consumption, high automation, and uniform product quality, making it the preferred solution for large-scale industrial production.
| Industry | Application Description |
|---|---|
| Metallurgy | Used as flux in sintering, pelletizing, and steelmaking to remove sulfur, phosphorus, and other impurities. |
| Alumina | Used in liquor recovery and as an auxiliary agent in the Bayer process for alumina production. |
| Calcium Carbide | Provides high-reactivity lime as the main raw material for producing calcium carbide. |
| Building Materials & Chemical | Production of light calcium carbonate, nano-calcium carbonate, aerated concrete, etc. |
| Environmental Protection | Used in environmental protection fields such as flue gas desulfurization and wastewater treatment. |
The working principle of the lime rotary kiln revolves around "gas-solid heat exchange and chemical reaction." After crushing and screening, the limestone (mainly CaCO₃) is sent by an elevator to the vertical preheater at the kiln tail. Here, high-temperature flue gas (approx. 1000-1100°C) from the kiln body exchanges heat with the limestone, preheating the material to about 900°C. The partially decomposed limestone then enters the rotary kiln body.
The rotary kiln is an inclined cylindrical shell driven to rotate slowly by hydraulic or variable frequency motors. The material moves from the kiln tail to the kiln head, while a burner injects pulverized coal or natural gas from the kiln head to create a flame. In the calcination zone, ranging from 900°C to 1200°C, the limestone undergoes a chemical reaction: CaCO₃ → CaO + CO₂↑.
The calcined high-temperature lime (CaO) falls from the kiln head into the vertical cooler. Cooling air is blown in from the bottom, exchanging heat counter-currently with the lime, cooling it to below 80°C for subsequent conveying. Simultaneously, the heated air (over 600°C) enters the kiln as combustion-supporting air, further improving combustion efficiency.
